    Well done!

  2. 371-380

Official start was 371.6, but I have a feeling I was between 375-380 at this point.

Wow. Those are a whole lot of pounds. Are your clothes just falling off you at this point? Has to feel unbelievable.

  5. The shirts look pretty ridiculous. There was one that I was gutting out of (Well, not really, but you know how a shirt will sometimes be too tight and the buttons will get weird? Yeah, kind of like that.), that I now just kind of air out (re: I just grab it and flap the extra shirt when I'm bored).

Wearing some 2X stuff - some fits baggy, some is snug. But yeah, it's a pretty big difference. Instead of getting winded up my stairs, I try to go up them as fast as possible (when my legs cooperate)...that's a big deal to me. It's those little victories - not getting as winded, having to buy a different belt - that keep me going.

Great job, man. You're right that it's the small victories that add up into big wins. Keep up the good work.

Quick update: have lost 85 lbs. (give or take a pound) in just over a year. Lost 3 lbs. this past week, in fact. And I'm not done yet.

  8. Aaaand that's how winning is done.

    Well done!

Dude that is awesome. You are a rock star. Be proud of it, especially on this thread. Hearing you motivates me further. Keep it up.

I have to admit I have slowed down lately, but I finally broke 300 on the weekend -- had been a huge hurdle for me, even when I was going hard at the gym, I kept bouncing between 301 and 304, couldn't seem to get over the hump -- stepped on a scale on Sunday and it read 298. Small tear rolled down my cheek, smiled all day. I am venturing a guess it has been at least eight years since I was sub-300.

I haven't quite sworn off beer, but I am cutting way back now. Going to keep it to one or less a week, although I know there are two weeks this summer/fall where that rule will go out the window, won't be so bad one week in August when my cousin comes out to the island, but it will get real bad when my buddies from back home fly out in October. I was starting to indulge too much and besides being hard on the pocket book, it was proving to be very counter productive in the gym. Also feel a little guilty considering my brother in-law's budding alcoholism. Have to get back going to the gym more. I was doing real well, but then got bogged down at work with Olympic athlete profiles for a supplement I was stupid enough to suggest and then say "Yeah, it will be no problem" despite being a one person department. The last two weeks have been bad for this. This weekend I will be able to put the vast majority of it behind me. Four to write then I can breath easy again. Then back to the gym and no excuses.

You are doing a tremendous job. I like the "no excuses" line. That's the right approach. At some point, I made a very conscious decision that my daily workouts were not a negotiable portion of my daily itinerary. So for probably about a year now, I've worked out without fail five days a week, and sometimes six or seven. Sometimes I have to work out at 4 or 5 in the morning just to get it in, but, like I said, it's non-negotiable. I even had that conversation with my wife. I sat her down and said, "No matter how busy I am or we are, my workouts are a non-negotiable part of my day. And if you ever want to take up an exercise program after the baby is born, I will extend the same courtesy to you."
