Casty, you're absolutely right. To run countless promos that the premiere would be at 10 p.m. was a classic example of bait and switch. The HR derby has run until at least 11 p.m. the past few years, so ESPN knew damn well it wouldn't be over by 10, yet they kept saying Bronx is Burning would be on at 10. That basically shows a callous disregard for the viewer.

And Casty didn't need to see the Bronx is Burning. He lived it.

I did want to see it, though. But screw it, I can live without it. And to get back to ESPN for a minute, why couldn't they switch the HR derby at 10 to ESPN 2? Or just run The Bronx Is Burning on ESPN2? Or hold it for a day. All I know is they've lost me as a viewer, which I'm sure they don't care about.

Out of all things to complain about, I was mostly pissed off about Platt's sideburns and Reggie Jackson's hair and all that. It looked like they threw a piece of foam on Reggie's head.

I saw that and I immediately recognized, from the production levels, how this is going to shape up.

They were going for the good lead in show Casty. I don't think it worked. I did enjoy the postscript featuring Regggie and the Sport Magazine writer. Good stuff there.

I thought Platt did a super job as George.

Watching it now. When Martin supposedly says "He was born on third base and thought he hit a triple" wasn't that actually Ann Richards' line about GWB?

Huge fuck-up on ESPN's part. I assume they have some money sunk into this, so it has to air when the 20,000 promos said it would. Not to mention the people who Tivo'd or VCR'd for a 10 o'clock start and got an hour's worth of home run bullshit.

I TiVoed the softball game afterwards to be sure I got it. Got everything but the backstory at the end, which I'm sorry I missed. That looked like one of the most interesting parts.

BiB is quite entertaining, if anything. No comments so far on Jason Giambi's cameo?

You went from the Closer to Internet porn? Which bdsm site did you visit?

But seriously, the lame portrayal of Reggie Jackson's looks removed any desire I may have had to watch.
