What a ride.

 

The Merrimack flows north only for a small portion of its course.

 

I think there are a handful of decent sized rivers in Alaska that flow north and drain into the Arctic Ocean.

 

And the Souris, which starts in Canada and heads south into North Dakota before turning back north in Minot.

 

I visit family in NoDak every few years. I remember a highway sign west of Fargo on I-94 that says "Continental Divide." It seems funny because it's on this flat, nearly featureless prairie -- but it's where the Missouri/Mississippi watershed, flowing to the Gulf, meets the Red River watershed that flows into Hudson's Bay.

 

Boston is a destination city. I’m sure tech, finance, nursing grads end up there. Plus grad students.

FSU has a highly regarded hospitality management program, which means a lot of grads end up working at hotels and resorts all over. When I run into grads in places like Des Moines or San Francisco, it’s in the hotel lobby.

 

That last point is very interesting and one I did not know. Thanks for posting it.

 

L.A. in a nutshell: 72 and perfect, at a red light behind a blonde in a Boxster, who's listening to a club mix of Fleetwood Mac's Dreams with the volume pumped up.

Someone once described LA for me this way "spending $$ you don't have to impress people you don't like." Okay, there are good people in LA, but that's certainly the vibe I've gotten the past 30 yrs.
