Interesting approach to a compliment. “I thought it was going to be awful, but it wasn’t!”

Okay, we’ve gone too far in needling New York if we’re surprised that a city with millions of immigrants make good food from their native country.

Chicago has among the best Mexican food in the country. You’ll never guess why!

In May I went on a golf trip to this big resort in the Big Bend Country of Texas. The course features several holes that go along the Rio Grande, and it ends at a place that, until not very long ago, was where Mexican families from there would meet up with Mexican families from here for picnics, swims in the river, etc.

The absolute worst Mexican/Tex-Mex meals I've ever encountered were served in that resort. They couldn't even get black beans right. How the fuck can you not do black beans right?

Maybe the ones who're good cooks get the hell out of there and go where the money's better?

Hispanics in NYC aren't likely to be Mexican. A lot more Mexicans in Chicago.

Good question since the letter W doesn't exist in the Francophone alphabet. That and the letter K are only found in loan words from other languages.

American broadcasting call letters and Andrew WK will absolutely blow a Frenchie's mind.

Touche. But there are still, like, half a million in the state of New York. Somewhere in New York City, there has to be good Mexican food.

And weirdly, the most famous Mexican restaurants in Chicago are Skip Bayless’ brother’s.

We live in a deeply strange universe.

I once turned a discussion at a table full of lawyers and judges into a full-fledged conversation about The Munsters.

    And I’ll do it again.

The best Mexican food I have ever eaten comes once a year - Thanksgiving morning - at a flea market down the road from my sister-in-laws in Eastern NC. There is a large hispanic farm worker population. They gather and turn the place into little Juarez/Tijuana/Guadalajara. It's a blast. There are food vendors set up, and you'd better be able to churn out some semblance of Spanish to order.
    It's awesome.
