Forty years ago when Chuck E Cheese came to the Denver area I went to my favorite pizza place, which was closed. Chuck E Cheese was in the same parking lot so I decided that what the hell, I would try it since I was craving pizza. The place was deserted and about to close but I insisted that the manager play the Animtronic Band Act. The guy thought I was out of my mond.

I have it on very good authority the Walmart in Gulf Shores is the highest grossing location for the company. Go in there on Saturday night during the season and you’ll see more empty shelves than full.

That’s after they’ve spent the morning at the Chick-Fil-A at my exit, crowding in like it is the last chopper out of Hanoi.

Width is fine, but some don't make the holders deep enough, and a moderately sharp turn can send the cup tipping over.

I always figured those robots playing oldies at Chuck E. Cheese were kids who ate too much of their pizza and turned into robots, a la Mr. Roboto.

We didn’t have a Chuck E Cheese in my hometown, but we did have a Burger King that had an arcade, ball pit and animatronic band. Popular for birthdays in the 80s.

That would make a fascinating anthropological study: how did kids who had birthday celebrations where a Burger King animatronic band was the highlight turn out? I’m thinking you can start the investigation at the local prison then move on to the insane asylum.
