Yeah, that's it, you got me.

Thank you for weighing in, oh president of the clueless.......

  2. Reading the P-G article and noticed:
1: It reported Madden was making a six-figure salary!
2: It did not mention Madden's stint as a columnist (maybe just on-line?) with the paper. I'm pretty sure he did some columns for the P-G a year or two back.

Like I said -- he was the highest paid sports talk show host in the city and one of the highest paid media members in the market regardless of genre.

And yes, he wrote columns for many years for the P-G before he was fired -- the clincher being the day he ripped the retarded/down's syndrome (I forget which it was) football player from the Cincy area whose coach arranged with the other coach to let him score a touchdown.

Yes, I did get you. On occasion, you do argue out of love of the sound of your fingers on the keyboard. Given some of the ridiculous stances you often cling to, that is me giving you the benefit of the doubt rather than stooping to your level of personal insults.

You keep trying to make this about politics or about a big corporation stomping on the poor shlub's freedom of speech when the bottom line is Madden's bosses told him where the line was and that he was to stop crossing it. He promised he would behave, and when he broke that promise, he was fired for it.

From what I've read and heard, let me get this straight.

The station's PD punished him by TAKING HIM OUT TO DINNER?

Yes, he was punished because he wasn't allowed to get an appetizer AND dessert with his meal.

Or maybe they made him chew with his mouth closed.

I can take just about anyone talking into a microphone now that Bob Trumpy is off the air and Lou Holtz's slobbery "s" is off for the season, but Madden in any shape or form just kills me.

  8. I can't believe  the guy was making six figures for being a jackass!
Hell, I do that here for less than $30K, I'm in the wrong field.

Yep. When it comes to public airwaves, you can only go so far, and wishing a U.S. Senator to be assassinated crosses it. He could do that on XM, but not public airwaves.

    Ding, ding, ding.

And as for Savage's rantings in this area . . . you know there's no excuse.

Apparently Savage played music by the Dead Kennedys and made all sorts of "jokes" about the Senator's cancer. Truly disgusting.

You can dislike Teddy Kennedy. There are a number of things about him that I'm not fond of.

But abject assassination-projection comments are wildly beyond the pale.
