boots, i think if you would settle down in one place and put down some roots, you might take be able to take this board less seriously.

I think that your constant moving all around the country has left you clinging for friends and attention.

 

I have been settled for a long time now Ace. Got plenty of friends and don't need attention. But what I would like is to make this place not seem like romper room on Friday. The TPs of the board, people who stay up all hours drinking and posting, they're the ones who have problems.
Like I said, enough is enough. I'm being a man about the situation. But when a goof ball, and I could call him worse, gets on a thread and says that I'm somebody else. Man, that's amazing. It shows where this board has gone. I'm trying to bring it back.

 

This isn't a random thought, but rather a casual observation. For some background, I've been logged on for about 14 months, and was a lurker before I logged on. And I want it to be well known that I don't have a dog in this hunt or a chicken in this fight (I was going to say “cock,” but that would likely have been a verbal shit magnet).

What I have observed is this:

Boots was never, prior to the romp in the hay thread being locked, a regular poster on Anything Goes — he kept a rather low profile. Sure, he'd drop in from time to time, but the bulk of his time was spent on the Jobs board. He was more active in posting new job listings and giving info on there than he was on any thread in Anything Goes. One could probably count on one hand the number of posts he had on the Charlie Brown thread. Anyway, my point is that he wasn't incredibly active on this board until hay romp got started and then got locked.

Since then, he has become an attention whore a prolific poster — the bulk of which call for people to calm down. The demeanor of this board hasn't changed. There have been reactionary posts to Boots' “This thread must die” posts. But I don't see where people have become more vile. Tom Petty is Tom Petty. Zeke12 is Zeke12. Good Doc is Good Doc. etc. etc.

Everyone here knows that Boots is making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Just ignore it.

 

Boots, just get to Jacksonville and retire, already.

 

I'll tell you a story, bootsie.

Tom and I have had a disagreements. We've called each other names and been nasty.

But on Easter he is putting on a bright yellow sundress and joining me for Easter service in a fancy Catholic church in Budapest.

And that was without me begging for help or ripping the mods or making a big issue out of anything.

Just chill out. You don't want to end up in arrears, do you?

 

I've been on here before. I scroll all of the boards. Again, it's not about me. It's about making the place have some meaning. We're supposed to be in the communications business but we're not doing a good job of communicating. I don't think you understand where I'm trying to go with this.

 

When I retire and that won't be too long from now, it won't be in jackstinkonville. In fact, it won't be in Florida.

 

Based on another, more vile thread, I'd hesitate to use words like "clinging" and "scroll" while around boots.

 

Then there's the 90% of us who don't even know the foolishness is going on.

 

Yeah, Tom and I went at it for a while in one of the most vicious fights on the board... but we're cool now..
