After all the rumors about last-minute re-shoots and so forth, my expectations have been kind of diminished about this one for months.

That's a big part of it, yes. And the Vox review I saw pretty much reflected that - the final product seems to be a bit messy and incoherent at times.

I came in with middling expectations and was blown away. This connected with me in a way that the prequels did not and even Ep VII fell a bit short of. Very "adult"-oriented...I'm debating whether my kids can handle some of the darker material, to be honest. But I thought it was fantastic.

How many years do we have to wait for Disney to retcon the prequels and start a do-over?

Ep.VIII next year, then the Young Han movie in 2019 and Ep. IX in 2020.

That'll be a good time for them to reset the whole machinery.

I don't think they'll retcon out any existing episodes, just do "alternate storylines" focusing on different characters.

For instance, maybe an Episode 0.5 -- a story focusing on young-adult versions of Mace Windu and Qui-Gon. Maybe the young-boy version of Obi-Wan appears at the very end.

Jar Jar and yet-unborn Anakin nowhere to be seen.

Maybe bring in Benedict Cumberbatch as a middle-aged still-good Jedi Count Dooku.

I have tickets for tomorrow night. I view this as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead

Got my tickets for Sunday. I'm actually looking forward to this mainly because I'm a nerd and I've been geeking out for this since the teaser trailer dropped. I'm realistic and know this is not going to be perfect but new Star Wars along with new Star Trek is going to get me stoked.

I'm waiting a bit because I am not nearly as concerned regarding spoilers as I was with The Force Awakens. We all have a pretty good idea where this ends up. I've already had some smaller stuff spoiled for me.
