I went last night at 8:15. 3/4 full and found a good seat with ease.
A couple nice parts, the CGI work is very well done when needed.

As long they don't pull something like Tarkin was really a rebel spy or have a fucking lobot cameo, I will be happy.

Thought Rogue One was great. Best action sequences of any Star Wars movie. This is my 3rd favorite. IV, VII and this III.V

Without giving it away, there is a scene toward the end of Rogue One that is as good (maybe better) than any scene in Star Wars history.

Loved the movie. In explaining how it fit in with the rest of series (of which my wife has only seen Episode IV), I told her that it was like "Saving Private Ryan" to the original trilogy's "Band of Brothers." It really felt like a war movie, so it was a bit different from Star Wars in that respect. Not as much mysticism of the Force and more hand grenades and (spectacular) dogfights.

The CGI was great (and surprisingly good on two specific characters) and I enjoyed the inclusion of the original Gold and Red group pilots. I also like the reference by a couple of stormtroopers to the T-16 being rendered obsolete. Made me giggle like nerd.

Just saw it. Good thing that they could send email attachments a long time ago in a galaxy far, far way.

Saw it this afternoon and loved it. Far superior to last TFA. I hope they do a Vader/Emperor film before McDiamid dies or becomes physically unable... although I guess if Rogue One proved anything, it's that you can bring people back from the dead.

What is left to explore between Vader and Palpatine? We've seen how Palpatine turned Anakin and we've seen how Skywalker turned him back. What's left? Them playing cards? :D

Oh my goodness. This was way better than I had expected. Loved Jyn Erso and her badassery. Loved the droid and his being a much better version of C-3PO.

I'm going to his BigPern's favorite scene took place on a ship at the end of the movie ... Not sure if we're delving into spoilers yet or if I need to be more specific. But it was so badass and a fitting piece to be at the end of this one.

The action was so good. The battles in space and on the beach were fantastic.

My only gripes are a couple of characters were a little cheesy (Forrest Whitaker and a couple of others) and how they finally get the Death Star plans to Leia didn't really seem to match up with where we pick up with Ep. IV. I'll leave it there until we really get into spoilers.

Over all, fantastic film that does immense justice to the originals, is self contained but falls in line well with the other stories and hits all the right tones. So happy with how they did it.

I agree with pretty much all you said and, yes, that's the scene.

Some of the characters were a bit cheesy, but well, it wouldn't be a Star Wars film otherwise. I wondered about Saw Gerrera if his body was some kind of an early version of Vader's suit, though I suppose we'll never know.

Funny how they tried to sell the BS that this was a strictly standalone film outside the regular SW sequence when it turned out to be a direct jump-cut prequel to Ep. 4.

The chronology gaps between the numbered SW episodes: I to II, about 10 years; II to III, about 3 years; III to IV, about 18 years; IV to V, about 3 years; V to VI, about 3 years, and VI to VII, about 30-32 years.
