The get Chef through a 3 hour layover thread

    I still have this bedrock principle rooted in the year 2004 that I won’t pay double figures for a beer. I’ve paid $9 all the time at baseball games. I’ll pay way more than that for a cocktail. But I refuse to go up to $10 for beer. At some point I’ll accept inflation as a normal part of life, but not yet.

    I remember when I got over the mental block of paying $10 for a meal that wasn’t in a nice restaurant in the early 2000’s. That was a hurdle, too.

    Back in my traveling (and drinking) days, I’d usually have to fly out early in the morning. So I’d get to the airport by 6 am to tie a load on before getting on the plane.

    It feels like the last place on Earth where it’s perfectly acceptable to be drunk at sunrise.

    Make your layover in Denver, Detroit or Chicago next time.

    I had a three-hour layover in Detroit in January. They have CASINO gambling on your phone. I made about $700 over three hours, relatively risk-free, playing baccarat.
