Far and away the top of this list for me is a fall 1991 sketch on SNL when they goofed on the Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill Senate Judiciary Committee hearings. Kevin Nealon was Joe Biden, Phil Hartman was Ted Kennedy, Chris Farley was Howell Heflin, Al Franken was Paul Simon and Dana Carvey was Strom Thurmond ... and they all sat there questioning Tim Meadows, playing Clarence Thomas, asking him questions about how to approach women, as if they viewed him as some sort of dating expert. Hill had accused him of talking about scenes from porn movies, and so they asked him whether he did that and he said yes. The exchange that got me was this:

Farley (as Heflin): Do you think that hardcore porno is the way to go? Because I've heard women like a softer porn.

Carvey (doing a dead-perfect Thurmond): I agree with Senator Heflin. Women want to see something with lots of story and costumes that'll take 'em away to another place and time. They do not want to see pictures of oh-vah sized genitalia ... that's just nevah gon' turn 'em on!

I was in college, laying on the floor in my dorm room watching this and laughed so hard I was gasping for breath. I think it's the best piece of political satire that show has ever done.

SNL has been at its best when it does political satire.

This one -- Dukakis After Dark -- during the 1988 election season was a true classic. Phil Hartman as Ted Kennedy was outstanding.

That was an excellent sketch, OT. The debate between Dukakis-Lovitz and Bush-Carvey was also very funny.

 

I remember an SNL sketch with three guys in the early 80s. One guy told a joke, the guy in the middle started laughing while drinking milk and had it start coming out of his nose, and the third guy grabbed a glass, caught some of the milk from the nose and started drinking it.

 

No, no, no ... That was 2 Girls 1 Cup.

 

I really laughed hard at that scene.
I forgot all about it.

I'd say later in my life, the hardest I've laughed is watching those Chappelle reruns
