Whenever someone says, "How we doin?" or "You guys looked good," I usually just say something like, "Well, Podunk was ahead by 15 but hasn't scored in six minutes," or "Yeah, Podunk did look good." I just try to delineate that I am not a part of Podunk, without outright telling people, "Look, I couldn't give a shit whether Podunk wins or loses as long as they do it quickly."

Not saying you're wrong, but I will say this is reason No. 3,489 why the public absolutely loves us.

We spend so much time putting ourselves above the event, and the public doesn't look at it as a professional statement or course of action. They look upon it as us believing we're above the event.

  6. But we are above the event. ;)

I know. But I'm trying to convince myself I'm not. A little help here, please? ;)

But, Shotty, you do want to see a good well played game right?

If people ever asked me who I wanted to see win, I would always say I want to see a good game win.

When I said good luck the rest of the way to a team, I hoped I was relating good luck in health and other things (non-game related) for the coach's players.

Depening on the event, I'd rather see a quick game than a good game.

In basketball, I hope for someone to have a big game or key play rather than the same 2-3 guys.

    You are correct.

A good, quick, well played game.

Especially if it is baseball played by high schoolers.

i've covered damn near every sport at every level -- save the olympics -- and i'll say with a straight face that my favorite sport to cover is softball at a very high level with two pitchers that kick ass.

you get in. you get out. nobody gets hurt.
