The Internet dating world is a cesspool

    About 11 years, I think.

I just had an AdChoice ad on the left rail here on SJ called "Russian Love Match." Maybe some people could try that one out?

I highly recommend message boards for aging rock stars as a way to succeed in the Internet dating world! This does not, however, give you the right to dis all of said rock star's releases in the past 30 years. <crossthreading>

I have a similar story. Copy editor at my last stop met a singer at a synagogue via JDate, they dated for about a year, a year and a half, and now they're planning on getting married. He's a really nice guy, but I would have thought him a lifelong bachelor without JDate.

I have been doing the online dating thing for more than I care to admit. In my opinion, match and eharmony are not worth the money. Did both and have had far more success on POF. Haven't had anything real substantial other than dating a couple for a few months. But I wouldn't call them cesspools. It's pretty easy to look at a profile and see if the person interests you. I've had my share of dates with women who were not as attractive in person, but I have not had a single bad experience.

The only thing is, it is a lot of work, and it's frustrating as hell when you find a woman you like and she doesn't respond. Went out with a woman Sunday who I really, really liked and actually lives very close to me (which is often a problem with the matches on POF, esp. where I live). She texted me within an hour and said she'd talk to me soon. Texted a few times Monday, and now she isn't answering my calls. Sigh. Just have to keep at it.

I've met some very nice women on there, but just nothing that has really clicked. It's a pretty good site as long as you set your parameters and weed through the crazies. From what I hear there are far, far more lunatics for the women to weed through.

I'm a Jew too and back in my single days had a few dates off Jdate, but they didn't lead to anything.
November 2004 I started talking to this great girl on a site called JewishMingle.com (which I think has since been bought out by Jdate).
We went on our first date in December 2004.
April 2005 I proposed, she said yes.
June 2006 we got married and have been happily married ever since.

One of my wife's friends met her husband on Jdate and has been married a year longer than my wife & I.

Nice, dude. I believe there's a Christian Mingle, too.

I just checked out the main page of POF.com and saw a dead ringer for Don Nelson.

    Instant tube droop.

I did POF and OK Cupid a while back. It seems like women my age (mid-20s) were interested more in sending messages back and forth for a while and texting, but not actually meeting up.
