Oh, fuck that noise. If you had wanted a friend, you would have joined FriendsMatch.com. Don't torture yourself by becoming friends with a girl you wanted to date.

Don't encourage BDC. Sounds like the idea of being her dick in a glass case would appeal to him.

Oh, dear. Just got another great dating ad for "BBW Cupid." Any takers?

I hear the Christian dating sites have some of the sluttiest people on it.

They all must want to say "Oh God!" a lot.

As someone who literally just got back from church and logged on to SJ, I am trying so hard not laugh at this. I just can't help it.

It's OK, God gave me the gift of humor. He approves. :)

Done a couple of Meetup things. First was a bar trivia night, which was fun despite some seating misfortune. The empty seat at my end of the table was filled by a guy who went on and on and on about every Match misadventure he ever had. The only girl I was interested in came last, sat at the other end, and was monopolized by some asshelmet who, thankfully, drove the rest of the table crazy and forced him to vamoose before evening's end. Not expecting to see her at another event, and hope she hasn't been turned off white guys forever (she sounded Carribean). Second was a game night, but all the women at this one were a little youngish (I've heard of a different game night to try where that's not the case).
Have done Match and OK Cupid (at the suggestion of a woman I met on Match), with OKC getting the edge right now. Five dates in my first five weeks, not a bad one, although only one is in my active file right now (the only OKC I've met - she's a real estate broker and her sked's crazy, but she's a lefty and can talk, both big plusses with me). Actually met a couple of my own kind (one unemployed former AP and one struggling to make it freelance) from Match, and wonder if I've hit my sweet spot in academia. Have met one former English professor on Match, and have been in contact with two on OKC - an English professor in Boston (and she's actually English!), and a sociology professor who lives in Providence and works in Worcester.

Is Meetup a dating thing? I know there are some groups for that, but I thought it was just for random people.

Some segments of Meetup are used as a dating tool. The Laws of Attraction groups, however, are just pseudocorporate crap.

Don't think so. When I moved out here, some people recommended it to meet folks.

I broke up with my significant other of four-plus years last May and met a girl off one of these sites (POF). Needless to say, we started a friends-with-benefits like arrangement until I broke it off when I actually found a girl I admire more than just being intimate. Oh, the life I lead...
