Agreed. I learned a lot from the well-reasoned arguments about religion and politics, on both sides. The name calling -- other than the subject being called a slut and a liar, unsubstantiated both -- didn't begin until the very end.

But have you ever been publicly called something you're not -- a thief, a liar, a slut, an adulterer, whatever it is that might upset you because it goes against every thread of your being, and affects your professional career and your private life, maybe causes your family distress and grief? And has this slander ever been vocalized to millions, so that they run with the meme and it'll likely follow you forever?
If not, can you at least understand how if that does happen to someone, especially a person who's mostly or always led a private life, that person and others can be slightly upset?
