tremendous show in chicago last night. "THUNDER EFFIN' ROAD!!"

an apparently spontaneous, unrehearsed selection as the first encore, perfectly done!

    i weep in envy!! :'( :'( :'(

Interesting. I wonder how Young Bruce would have handled an arrangement of that song.

I think that's right. It just seems heavy handed to me. He usually makes his points in a more timeless, allusive style.

Someday, it will seem as cringe-inducing as Neil Young singing his praises of Jesse Jackson in an otherwise fine song, "Keep on Rocking in the Free World."

"Magic" is back at No. 1 a week after giving up the top spot to Kid Rock.

Just finished a Sunday-Monday double bill in Cleveland/Detroit.

Two thumbs WAY up for both shows. The songs from "Magic" definitely have more punch in concert.

Cleveland's tour premieres: "It's Hard To Be A Saint In The City" and "Be True."

In Detroit, "Jackson Cage," "Ramrod" (first performance since 2002) and "I'll Work For Your Love" (first performance ever).

Concession to age at last: The shows are timing in at about 2:15 (although it's a straight 2:15 -- no breaks, and really only a handful of acoustic/ slow-tempo songs).

And "American Land" is a GREAT foot-stomping finale.

  6. Starman,

Saw last night's Detroit show as well, and agree. A tremendous show, probably one of my top two or three Bruce shows ever.

I feel bad for the 3-year-old kid in the front -- he's only 3 and he's already had the best concert of his life.

(Kid held up a sign that said "Ramrod Please." Bruce not only played the song, but he let the kid strum his guitar while he played, gave him his harmonica after Promised Land, then Max gave him his drumsticks and Clarence gave him his sax string).

They did Ramrod during The Rising tour in the summer of 2003 ... at both Giants Stadium shows I saw

I'm a big "Ramrod" fan but I would have loved to have got "Jackson Cage" in Toronto.

OK, well somebody told me it was "unplayed in five years." (Bruce Springsteen, on stage -- he told me and 20,000 other close personal friends.)

    :D :D :D

Of course, I somehow doubt Bruce sits around cross-referencing his setlists for the precise date songs were last played.

    ;D ;D ;D

I'm sure at his age, Bruce has some trouble remembering when he last played certain songs ;D ;D

Four years, five years, who's counting. ;D
One of the wildest, most bizzare versions of Ramrod I witnessed was Aug. 11, 2003 in Philly.
It had been cloudy and raining all day. Cloudy through the night. But during the encores the skies cleared and a spectacular full moon could be seen rising over the stadium on the opposite end from where the stage was.
Whomever posted the video to YouTube made the mistake of breaking it up into two parts, instead of keeping it as one 11 minute clip
    Part 1:

    Part 2:
