the beauty of a bruce show is that it's like a box of chocolates, as forrest gump would say. sure, there are always a couple of personal favorites you can wish he'd done, but also a few pleasant surprises.

i saw him at the nassau coliseum last month and immediately looked into getting tix for one of his giants stadium shows in july. a no-brainer.

and i agree with spnited: doesn't appear there's much gas left in the tank for the band as we know it. and bruce, at 58, has to start doing shows that disappoint his older fans more and more. he is only human, even if his legion of lovers is in denial. 2008 could be the last we see of broooce and the boys anywhere close to the top of their game.

example: they all look sooooo much younger and have soooo much more energy on the barcelona dvd than they do now. it was. what, five years ago? we all age at a faster pace once we pass 50. i'm learning that first-hand. sniff. :'( :'( :'(

Clarence looks better this tour than he had recently. He's dumped a good deal of weight, and while he isn't exactly springing around the stage, his playing is strong, he doesn't miss cues, and he appears to be having a good time.

I think this will probably be the last major-arena/stadium ESB tour, but I think they'll be back in theaters and the sheds in the summers.

    for those scoring at home....

"out in the street" opened the show last night in san jose.

THAT, my friends, is why you never turn away from a brooooce ticket. 8)

  7. I remember the "Darkness" tour when "Badlands" was the set-opener.
    It's what finally convinced me.

Badlands was a huge highlight of the show I was at.

    HUUUUGE.

I prayed to whatever Brooce gods there are for Johnny 99, but 'twas not to be.

I wasn't there, but last night in Anaheim Tom Morrello (of Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, and solo as The Nightwatchman) joined Bruce & the E Street Band for a rock version of The Ghost of Tom Joad. Thanks to modern technology its available on YouTube now.

Curses -- YouTube is blocked by my work filter. Ramrod, Out in the Street, and Light of Day? Is it 2000 again?

night 2 in anaheim included: "thunder road" leading off the show!
"ghost of tom joad" with morello again!
    "brilliant disguise"
    "atlantic city"
    "she's the one"
    "because the night"
    "prove it all night"
    "promised land"
"out in the street" ending main set.

"meeting across the river" into "jungleland" leading off the five-song encore.

might be my fave songlist of the "magic" tour.
