As far as hoops writers I'd go with Frank Burlison.

You could make a serious argument for Ms. Sterger.

  4. She's influenced me in more ways than you'll ever want to know.

Boy, between her and Paris Hilton, you sure seem to dig skanks.

Ummm, I know you've been away for a while, but it's The Dwarf. Little Napoleon resides now in Tuscaloosa.

In light of his current hiatus on this list, SAS is too high. And it kills me to say it, but LeBatard might be a better choice in his stead. FAR better writers who aren't syncophants on the list like Joe Posanski... but DLB does better with face time.
Of course, since this isn't necessarily in general, you might want to sub out people like Peter King, Peter Gammons, Paul Zimmerman and others like that...
I now must take a shower.

  11. DanO? What about Paris and Jen? Don't they qualify? They're among my favorites. Oh, i forgot, they're not sports journalists. They're still among my favorites for other reasons ;)

  12. When this board loses touch with The Legacy Of Slappy, it loses much of its soul.
