The Nats are dealing!

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by Moderator1, Jul 13, 2006.

  1. I don't know how to respond to that because it makes no grammatical sense.

A phrase such as "let me make a point" is the equivalent of saying "excuse me for a moment". Just common courtesies.

Sorry if courtesy is a foreign concept.

Anduw just hit one to Escondido.

  3. Does it count if it was off Chan Ho Park?

Should it go down in the books as 1/2 a HR?

    483 feet.

    Way to go, Chan Ho.

  5. Lopez and Kearns a combined 1 for 7 with 5 K's tonight.

Maybe the worst side effect of this trade is because of how well people think Bowden did - he may be back for another full season next year. Sorry Moddy.

They've already announced that. Kasten removed the interim about two weeks ago.
I think the Nats are 2-12 since, not that the two are related.

  7. I thought that was just for the rest of this season. My guess was that Kasten didn't want to do anything rash during this season (and cause all sorts of speculation and disruption in the process) but that he would put his front office team in place during the offseason (minus Bowden). Now this trade may give Bowden the support to stay on (which I think would be a HUGE mistake by the Nats)

I think it's long term. Lord, I hope you are right and I am wrong. But he's signed a contract - terms not revealed - and I can't imagine it would be for just the rest of the year. I can hope, but I can't imagine.

Though every time Majewski gives up another run, I feel a little better about the deal.

  9. Moddy - how often have you seen a GM given a three year deal just before getting the axe? It makes sense to sideline Bowden as a GM so he doesn't have the strengths and weaknesses of the organization working for the advantage of another team. I hope its a severance package (but I also hope he doesn't go back to polluting the airways at ESPN either).

If we're talking about three first-round picks on Bowden's watch, it's an ego trade.

It's a "look, see what great drafting skills I have? What an eye for talent. Wait till you see what these guys will do when I get them back with me, and then you'll all really know (all you mo******uckers back in Cincy) what a great thing you passed up by firing me. Eat shit and die. I WILL fleece you. That new GM you have is a dope compared to little genius me."

It's like the official/unofficial embargo on trading with Bowden was lifted, and he had to get in there and make a deal with them ASAP just to show what a playa he is, or whatever reason he might have.

I know, throwing "ego" and "Bowden" in the same sentence is a shocking correlation.

For those reasons, and many others, the transaction has "watch this carefully" on it.

Moddy, have you heard or read anything at all about exactly what Davey Johnson's job is for the Nats. I called his place recently and was told that he was out scouting and I understand that's what the job was supposed to be. But I don't know if it's scouting the majors, minors or foreign contries.
