It also shows what the public thinks of Obama. They like him a teeny bit better than the multi-millionaire Mormon with no personality.

No matter what side you're on, it's the lesser of two evils. There is zero reason to be excited about either one of these guys.

I don't know if there is ever going to be a presidential candidate to get "excited" about for the rest of America's existence. The job is too complicated and polarizing.

    That's a false comparison.

Obama's vastly outpacing where his popularity ought to be, given the economy.

    Romney's underperforming "generic Republican".

People like Obama, outside the deep South. They dislike the economy.

I fear you may be right.

In the Post poll, as in many others, voters personal opinions of Obama on issues like "cares about people like me," "leadership qualities," etc. (and I think these questions are so vague as to be silly) are way higher than his job approval ratings. More proof that there are no issues that matter for an incumbent President but how much money people have in their pocket.

People like Obama because they think he is hip and cool....

Oh wait, I can't say he is cool because that is racist.

If these tax and spends were devoted to infrastructure, which would then trickle to private sector jobs, it's workable. But take his stimulus. There's a lot of recipients that spent funds on bonuses, debt and little else.

You sure you aren't talking about the bank bailout?

Well, the thread is called fight-free Romney vs. Obama, not YF vs. Starman.

That was what happened in 2008, no?

Zeke: Bush was likable too. I like Obama. He's a guy, like Bush, that I could go to a ball game with, have a beer or two and talk shit with. Both had/have their shortcomings.

And the only reason that will determine the outcome in November is because Romney is an absolutely terrible choice for the Republicans, who through nearly two years of calling 2012 the critical presidential electoin of our era couldn't come up with anything better, no matter how badly needed it was.

I'm talking about both actually. Same waste of relief funds. Schools around these parts, for example used stimulus funds for existing budget purposes. It didn't create anything. Just sustained.

The thing is that he has kept many of the policies that he was so critical of Bush. He is now proposing an extension for the Bush tax cut. Figuratively speaking the past 3 years have really been in effect a 3rd Bush term.
