That same article says Finney had been asked to write on a freelance basis. So I take Triplett's tweets to mean that will in fact happen.

Must have updated. Original version from a couple hours ago had no mention of that.

You intuited the guy's whole range of emotions from a line on Twitter?

He tweeted one concern. I'm guessing it's his top concern.

Was it the state of the paper, the loss of jobs, personal concern for the critic? No, it was how it would impact his bottom line.

Fuck him. By Buy an ad.

How does someone get fucked by an ad?

That would be "buy" an ad.

And remind me again when you were a journalist, which would qualify you to understand what a newspaper's job should be?

You should have seen the first draft when it read, "by an add."

Do you disagree with something I said?

If you want to be a disagreeable ass, at least point out the flaws in my post -- beyond the spelling.

    :D :D

I like when you respond that way.

    But not like that.

That being said, I didn't take it as a promotional Tweet. He just said that when people visit, they would put stock in the reviewer. And knowing a lot of income for the city comes from tourists, having someone they can trust where they know where to look was valuable.

Eh, she's always up my ass. Likes to take shots, without actually criticizing what I said/wrote.

I'm more than happy to have an adult conversation, debate the issue, and defend my position -- or even retract it.

The Chef's first thought was for his industry, not the well being of the paper, or its (former) critic. Even as a business decision, it doesn't matter how important the restaurant/tourism business is to New Orleans. What matters is whether or not the T-P can make money covering the industry, and writing reviews.

Oh, and I edited my reply to her too. You really didn't want to see the first draft of that response!

His restaurants aren't even in New Orleans. He's a native of New Orleans. His restaurants are in Oxford, Miss. He's speaking on behalf of the critic (who he calls the "best") and his native city of food.
