It is confirmed that he is a member of the cast and has been for a long time.

More than $50 million in advance ticket sales and counting.

Is there that suspicion? I thought it was widely accepted that he was in it, but they are keeping his role secret for now. He is listed as part of the cast on the IMDB page.

    Edit: What Dick said.

There were questions on this thread about where he was in the trailer (was that his hand on R2?) And recently saw the Star Wars issue of Entertainment Weekly with interviews with Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher and little to nothing on Hamill.

Always kind of rooted for him as an actor.

I have heard that he became a really good voice actor in the "Batman" animated series. But having watched episodes IV and V in the past week, he was uneven at best, and actually very bad at the beginning of the first "Star Wars" film, i.e. the Tattooine scenes. He settled in somewhat eventually, but among the core four characters, he's definitely the worst of Ford, Fischer, and Williams.

Oh, I know. That's why I always kind of rooted for him.

He was fantastic in Corvette Summer.

I think the questions were geared more around the mystery of why we haven't fully seen Luke Skywalker. He's notably missing from the poster and his face is not shown in the trailers. He's the only one of the major cast who we haven't really gotten to see yet, so we've done some spitballing as to the reasons why. We all knew he's in the film/trilogy.

    I actually saw that at a drive-in.

Luke Skywalker made him a god in the geek world, of course, but in those circles he's as equally revered for his voice work as the Joker. Hell, since the end of the original Star Wars trilogy his voice has probably been on screen more than his face.

I don't want to be a downer about this. Star Wars means a lot to many of you, and I never want a film to be bad. But man, this whole event reminds me of the very old Simpsons episode where Homer steals cable and there's a big title fight with the slogan "This time, it's for the money!"

Abrams is good, though. I don't expect it to be great, mostly because it's recycled material, like everything in Hollywood, reviving a universe that existed as a vehicle to tell a very specific story about the journey of a father and a son. How do you go bigger than that?

But it won't be terrible, because the creative team is too good.
