    Saw it. Spoiler-free thoughts.

Still processing everything, but I enjoyed it. I've seen complaints that the plot was thin, but that's not a problem. This is a transition film. It's obvious that new characters are being established and the story has to have a simple plot to make us learn about the characters and learn to love them. SW77 was the same. A lot of info to introduce, so the audience can't be bogged down with an overly complex story. Leave that to the next two films. That is the job of those films.

Another complaint is that some new secondary characters aren't explored enough. Well, that's because they are secondary characters. They are not the story. But fockin' SW nerds insist on every single space monkey in the background have a name and a story. Leave that shit for the books that will come later. Disney won't forget you and will dip into your wallet eventually. Besides, THERE ARE TWO MORE MOVIES on the way. Not everything has to be explained in the first movie. Certain secondary characters were left with an ambiguous end because we will see them again.

Overall, I'm very pleased. This film felt more like classic SW than any of the prequels did. I look forward to more.

Considering this is being released in the middle of holiday season and a lot of people will not get free time to see it until the new year, I'd say Monday Jan. 4 should probably be the "wraps off" day.
That gives everybody two weeks plus an extra weekend to get out and see it. If you haven't seen it by then, you're probably not very worried about spoilers anyway.

    People want that reassurance, though.

The we need a spoiler thread, too. I'll start it on Anything Goes.

Up yours, Dick. That's like putting out a tray of warm chocolate chip cookies and telling people not to touch them.

No, it's like a sorority girl passed out in the frat bathroom with her skirt up and panties down.

I don't think anywhere near the whole galaxy rejoiced. And the new version of the Empire has a different name, so assuming it's an offshoot or reboot.

There was a lot of rejoicing, regardless, that wasn't in the original film. Didn't add anything and wasn't needed. I'll stand by that. I don't know how the new movie moves on to its next point with bad guys or anything else and I'm sure it's handled fine and don't disagree that it's some sort of reboot, it just made me wonder.

Think of it as Empire sympathizers trying to re-establish it. Think of it like the Third Reich. There's the scene from the trailers, in fact, that is heavy in Nazi imagery, with rows of stormtroopers and other First Order forces lined up to hear a leader speak.
