Hi, does anyone have a contact at The Athletic for an NBA commentary piece. Pretty evergreen topic, but I'd like to have it published during the playoffs. I combed their sitemap and the only form of contact I see is a form with a dropdown, which I'd rather not use. I've been in the business off and on for 25 years and write for ESPN, The New York Times, The Atlantic, Yahoo, CBS, if that helps feeling comfortable helping me make a connection.

    Please DM me if possible.

    Thanks,
    Boogie

I don't know how to DM people. My suggestion is to go to NBA Media Central, go to the NBA Blue Book, look at The Athletic's entry, and contact who you think would be the best editor for this.

You click Inbox and then Start a Conversation and then add the SJ member by name.

I'm just surprised there's no masthead at all. They got a whole long thing explaining their editorial guidelines, though.

Would contacting the Times SE (is it still Jason Stallman?) get you anywhere? Not sure what role he has re: The Athletic, but I thought there was some collaboration nowadays.

I used to work with Connor Ennis, but I think he moved onto business. I mean that was like a decade ago. But thanks, good idea about Times.

Maybe ask Moddy? Rumor is he works there.

Yes, Moddy works there. Most email addresses at The Athletic are first name-letter/last name (AHuman@theathletic.com). Some have NYT email, if they had been at The Times and moved over, virtually.

Would it have been better if I made that a new thread?

Where do you think he is headed? I really hope it's not Barstool. I enjoy Andy's content but I'm not supporting those losers.
