I loved how Toby lit up when he thought Michael had finally warmed up to him.

I could be wrong, but I think his cockiness now stems largely from the Kavorka-like power he's got over Kelly.

And speaking of Kelly, her reaction to hearing about how great Jim and Pam's honeymoon went was awesome. Reminded me of my stepsister (also named Kelly, interestingly enough). It's always about her, even when it comes to other people's happiness.

A big step was when he got a $500 haircut.

I thought Pam was in the right. When Michael went to Toby about a "hostile work environment," Toby said that should have been dealt with outside of the work place. Michael said Pam brought the situation to work when, in reality, Michael introduced it to work.

  5. You thought it was OK to interrupt meetings by acting like a 13-year-old?

I still don't understand how she could go from Michael's biggest supporter in the office to all this latent hatred in a snap like that.

No, she shouldn't have acted like a 13-year-old in the meeting. Two wrongs don't make a right. But Michael set it off by breaching the subject at the office, at which point, you have to be prepared for what comes next. He instigated with the breach, which should have been done away from the office.

Re: Pam supporter to hatred, it makes all the sense to me. It's one thing to have goofy, clueless friends. It's quite another to have one of those goofy, clueless friends hook up with your mom at your wedding, especially when said person is your boss and already has a huge influence in one aspect of your life (work). But then to deal with them with family life?

  7. I understand that, but I felt like she went beyond that. It became clear that Pam thought Michael was a buffoon with no redeeming qualities. Like he was merely her charity project the last couple of seasons. That was an ugly side of her last night.

Ummm...Why are we applying logic to The Office?

"Pamela Morgan Beesley, you need to apologize to your mother right now."

"I don't like the tone here, this is a place of business. You are to give other respect, and you are to keep personal issues out of it. Do not talk to me that way. I am your boss, and I may someday be your father, so get out!"

I thought Michael's tone was far worse than Pam's, especially since not only was he in the wrong, he broke the news at work as opposed to a private setting. And then for him to even act like her father -- using her full name, telling her to leave the meeting like telling a child to go to their room -- only inflamed her more. Michael has always been a self-serving guy who says he cares about others, but doesn't. It's all about his needs, his ego, his way.

Kevin might have skin cancer? Michael gets ticked because it takes away from his birthday celebration. Jim might get a promotion away from his office? Michael sabotages Jim's chances by telling management he's a bad employee. Phyllis gave him an oven mitt for Secret Santa? Michael storms off like a child, throws the mitt down and creates Yankee Swap so he can get a present he likes after buying Ryan a $400 iPod. And let's not forget, Pam now has to worry about Michael sending out a topless pic of her mom, like what happened with Jan on a beach.

I don't think Pam necessarily saw Michael as a charity chase. I think she saw him as someone who, for better or worse, spiced up what might otherwise be a dull day at the office. But at least she always had her own personal retreat from some of those characters from the office. Now, the lines are blurred.

Best part of this week's episode for me was all the unsaid comedy. The facial expressions from Michael, Jim and Pam were priceless. Completely sold me on what was going on, aside from being hilarious.

Does anyone else see the genious of this show right now? Three weeks ago we were saying this show had lost its fastball, and now we are analyzing it like a 500 level lit course.

Also, if they can pull this off he may become one of the greatest tv characters ever...

When the show started we had Jim the funny, immature, lovable, young dufus. Now we are seeing the boss, husband and not so perfect man. I really hope they can keep this up.

I'm probably in the minority, but I preferred this episode to the wedding two-parter.

Just fantastic stuff. You expected that kind of reaction from Pam, but for Jim to flip out like that, showing a temper I don't recall ever seeing before? Wow.
