I'm in the minority. Didn't like it.

I need to watch it again at some point today. I wonder if they'll tease Michael Scott leaving/quitting in each episode - that was kind of funny.

Enjoyed the episode for the most part, but that opening scene was horrible. But yeah, Andy does seem like the kid of guy who wears those crappy iPod headphones.

I didn't like it, either. Too unrealistic, between the opening dance sequence and Michael spanking an employee. I always thought the strength of "The Office" in its hey day was avoiding those kind of gags.

I wasn't in love with the episode, but it wasn't really Michael spanking an employee. It was Michael - who wants nothing more than to have a family - spanking his nephew, albeit he was a little old to be spanked. Which was the whole point of the gag.

I was a bit surprised that Sepinwall seemed to really like this episode.

Forgot to mention this in my other post. Pam in the cold open...MERCY.

The cold opening is EXACTLY something they would do. That's the point.

I was convinced she had gotten a boob job.

You've been watching a different show than I have all these years then.

That was about the lamest three minutes of television I've ever watched.

Ditto. Did she have a child or something recently...?

I thought the opening was kind of lame. Drew Carey called and wants his bit back. However, the episode itself was an improvement on the average quality of last season.

Really? A different show? This is the group that wrote a song to sing when sabre took over, recreated the youtube thing for the wedding, does a rabies run, pulls off practical jokes like the tri desk and the desk made of wrapping paper, and tou don't think this is something some of them would sit around and think, "hey, let's do a lip sync thing."

    I guess I'm just stupid

Everything you mention is Season 4 and after, when they clearly made a conscious decision to broaden the comedy and appeal to a wider audience. And, at that point, the show completely lost its edge. It lost what made it great. Once in a while, there'll be a spark of the old show. Like when Kathy Bates asked Michael, "Oh, god, how far has it gone?" last episode.

I find it stunning that someone could watch that opening sequence and think, "That was pretty funny. And entertaining. And I could totally see the people at that office - and, for that matter, my office - working together to make an elaborate, high-production-value song-and-dance video."

They wouldn't do it. They wouldn't. And they wouldn't have done that at the wedding, either.

    Lame, lame, lame.
