John Krasinski spent quite a bit of time up here in Alaska during the last couple of months of 2010 filming a movie with Drew Barrymore, craptacularly titled "Everybody Loves Whales."

I laughed several times last night, but Kevin and Creed were usually involved somehow. I rolled when Kevin gave Holly the finger. And agree on Jim. It was about 15 minutes into it when I realized we hadn't seen him. It's weird that they wouldn't even mention his absence.

Outed: Big Circus is Erin (formerly Kelly) from the show.

    You got me!

Actually, I was reading a Royals blog today and found out that Erin is played by Ellie Kemper, who is part of what all the Royals fans were calling the Kemper Dynasty. Evidently that family is big shit in K.C. I'm assuming that's how Kemper Arena got its name.

Wikipedia backs this up, at the part about her coming from money.

The same Kemper family is behind Kemper Park, near Monticello in Charlottesville, Va. Had no idea she was part of that family nor do I have any idea what their connection to Virginia is.

And to add one more thing: Thursday's episode was written by Ellie Kemper's sister.

Can't imagine what Dwight said to the ladies at Temptations. Also enjoyed Darryl's mini tirade about why not to go to a strip club during a day shift on Monday.

Hasn't that movie been made, like, 87 times already?

Just set up spinning wheels of various male and female leads, mix them together in a lame RomCom and bam, another ought-to-be-straight-to-video offering for Redbox.

But this one's different! It's a based-on-a-true-story tale of the rescue of a whale trapped by sea ice in Barrow in the late 80s! Nobody's done that before!

Fun (and by fun I mean depressing) fact: After the Anchorage Daily News sent so many people packing the last couple of years, it no longer needed both floors of its building. So they moved everyone to the first floor and rented out the second floor to the production company of the movie. Not sure what they're doing with the space now that shooting up here has wrapped.

Wow - That's a pretty big get for NBC.

NO DENYING ferrell will be a ratings pull, so 'a pretty big get' is certainly accurate. but certainly not surprising to me that ferrell would do it -- he and carrell are great buds AND it seems to me that ferrell is the kind of guy who retains great loyalty to the network that put him on the map.

reassuring to see he hasn't forgotten his roots to big-time nbc. and as we've been seeing more and more of late, the great divide between tv stars and movie stars has all but been erased by the post-baby boomers. as sepinwall has noted, more film stars than ever seem to have first been 'discovered' on the small screen. heck, look at this hostyear's 'oscar' co-hathaway and franco.

i recall a piece i read when gwyneth paltrow was filming 'the pallbearer,' co-starring david schwimmer in the lead. the piece made it clear paltrow 'lowered' herself to do the flick as a tradeoff for other projects. throughout the piece, paltrow spoke derisively about the great adjustments tv actors had to make to raise their game in films. in the piece, when a scene is about to be shot, paltrow summond scwimmer by beckoning, 'oh, tv boy! tv boy!'

funny, considering paltrow's late dad was such a bigwig writer/producer for many tv shows. ... anyway, not intending to make any anti-paltrow rant here -- i've admired much of her work -- just offering further evidence on how the divide has lessened.

wow, how did i get here from "ferrell to be on 'the office?'" on a 'the office' thread. talk about a threadjack. guilty as charged.
