"Oscar really does embody the stereotype of the smug, gay Mexican."

So, the end of the episode, with Creed taking over as acting manager -- is that what Greg Daniels was hinting at in the "Goodbye, Michael" episode? Since at the end of that one Creed was drinking from Michael's "World's Best Boss" mug.

I'm sure someone would really keep any job in the office after shooting a gun off and sending a fellow employee to the hospital. No police called. Nothing. Uh, huh. Right.

Oh, please, Dick. Try a little suspension of disbelief.

There's suspension of disbelief, and there's cheating in service of a ridiculous, contrived plot. That crossed it. Sorry, I don't care how knee-slappingly hilarious it is, someone shooting a gun off in the office, sending someone to the hospital, then keeping their job, with no calls to the police or anything, is just something that takes me right out of the episode. I can't believe neither Sepinwall or AV Club called them on it.

I did think Rain Wilson did a good job in the ep, though, FWIW.

I'm really impressed by the attention to detail some folks have here. Nice catch.

As for this week's episode, I really enjoyed the first half right up until the point when Dwight started ridiculously parading around with the gun in the holster, from there on it lost me.

The Dwight as manager storyline had some real potential. I think they could've had some fun playing that out over like a 3 or 4 episode arc, instead of doing the storyline so absurdly over the top with him immediately going bonkers, shooting up the office, and losing it all within one episode.

    Agree.

How long was Frank Burns in charge of the 4077th? Several episodes at least, right.

Neither would be great in the long run, but they should have given Dwight a few episodes.

I think the join the fist thing could have had some potential with Jim getting back to his pranking Dwight roots. Instead they just went overboard. But then again they had to get to the Michael Scott replacement before the end of the season

I enjoyed the epirsode, but remember, we've seen Dwight in charge of the office before. (Schrutebucks, anyone?)

I'm fine with only giving him one episode in the boss' chair and moving on. The question is, moving on to what, exactly? Given the flop that was DeAngelo Vickers, I'm not optimistic about the long list of special guest stars next week.

My money is on new boss Jim Halpert.

I would enjoy Toby as the new boss. The show could use a straight man to ground it, make it go back to its roots.

As for a one-episode run as boss, I think Angela as boss would've been a nice experiment.

Jim as boss would be interesting, but it would switch the dynamic. It's to picture him as the self-absorbed fool figure the show seems to require in that position.

As an aside, I just got into the show this year, of all things. Looking forward to having a new swath of reruns suddenly become interesting to me.
