Well, thank God we've got that logged then. This thread was pretty wayward for a couple years there.

Dick, if you watch every episode every week and bitch about how much it insults your intelligence to have to do so, why do you bother anymore? As has been repeated ad nauseum here, there have been many fireable offenses that didn't result in anyone getting fired, or even reprimanded. Sure a gun is one step further, but how many times can someone be run over or pinned by a car and it still be funny?

We get it. You don't like the show. It's too insulting for your intelligence. Move on already.

If this is the "Office" fanboi thread, I'll gladly bow out. I thought it was a thread where we could discuss the show, good, bad, and indifferent. I think that firing a gun off in the office, with no firing, no police report, nothing, is absurd. More absurd than the other offenses listed.

Is that not a reasonable position?

Next week: Someone gets raped in the conference room. Crazy hijinks ensue.

Hopefully no one starts a thread about Back to the Future. Imagine how upset you'll get when you find out they built a time machine out of a car. Seriously, a time machine. Out of a car.

But that's the world the writers created! Don't you see the difference? This is NOT the world that these writers created. The gun at the office would have been funny on "Arrested Development." It's contrived here.

Starting the fire was just as fireable.

I don't think it would have bothered you as much if it had been funnier.

Dwight is better when he's being maniacal, calculating, devious. He was too goofy in this episode.

At what point does one become insufferable? Is it a gradual process or overnight?

In fact, whenever Jim has been left in charge, disaster has ensued. The way I remember it, they've used those episodes to show that running the office in a commonsense, logical way pisses off everybody and doesn't work. And that Jim, nice guy that he is, isn't really a "boss."

My wife is convinced the Gabe is the real Scranton Strangler and that Toby's jury convicted the wrong guy.

I was thinking the Scranton Strangler was introduced before Sabre took over.

That theory has been mentioned here before. I think it's probably spot on.

Someone mentioned that theory a couple pages back, and more and more, I think that's how things are going to shake out. The timelines don't have to really match perfectly for him to be the Strangler - You could just make a storyline invention that Gabe was up in Scranton earlier than Sabre because they were scouting out Dundler-Mifflin ahead of time for the buyout.

Speaking of the buyout and Michael's exit, it would be have been neat to have Michael calling David Wallace before he left. I always thought that was a pretty solid character with some great dry humor behind it.
