OK, I guess I just don't see the point. Because she's the best-looking woman in the office, I should be invested in her? I should want her and Andy to be together even though it doesn't work as part of the show?

Well, Dick's argument was that he saw no reason for why Andy would ever be into her. My counter was that she's the only woman who's attractive and single (at times) in that office. She's ditzy, but Andy is no genius either, even if he did get that sweet degree from Cornell. They're both kind of silly and stupid in an "aw shucks" way to me, so I could see them together.

That being said, I don't think they need to devote any screen time to it. We already had that a couple of seasons ago, and while it provided a few chuckles - Erin breaking down in the restaurant and telling Michael, "When I was at the foster home the only safe place was my hair." - I don't think there is a lot of un-mined humor there.

    Then we agree, actually. :D

I'm having a hard time with the idea of a budding relationship between the manager and the receptionist, especially with an ultra-competent CEO (Spader) overseeing them all. That would make it go from semi-sweet (when both were 'grunt' workers) to creepy in a hurry.

    You don't like Andy-Erin. Noted.

I think that's the majority opinion by far.

I don't quite see where you get that from what's been stated here. There are plenty of people who like that coupling. You just personally find that hard to fathom.

No. It's from mining critics' opinions and Internet comments, as well as my own social circle.

I'm actually pretty surprised that some of you are into the Andy-Erin arc at this point. But I think for a lot of you, if they had Dwight Schrute marry Jim Halpert in a ceremony in Tahiti - played for laughs, of course, complete with a YouTube-inspired dance routine - you'd give it an enthusiastic two thumbs up.

So many aspects of the Erin character just aren't even close to believable for me. Damn near her entire character, in fact. That's what frustrates me. The actress who plays her has great timing and all that, but her character is a bad joke.

Yet, the inner core of that character makes it easy to see why Andy likes her. It's baffling.

The Angela pregnancy is actually entertaining. She's suddenly married?! I bet Dwight is the dad.

From a sheer storytelling standpoint, they've drawn it out too long. I guess I could even buy that people would be attracted to one another for reasons I can't understand. But they in no way established enough of a connection or chemistry to draw it out this long and retain my engagement in the arc.

As opposed to the real-life nature of the Creed character?

Some of the fun of the show is the absurdist traits of the secondary characters.

Smasher, obviously most characters get exaggerated for effect. Creed especially. But there's something in his root that works. I just can't say the same about Erin.
