Gervais is always hilarious when he makes the talk show rounds. I'm sure this is no different.

 

Um ... it's actually not that far off. There is quite a bit of French spoken in Winnipeg and Manitoba. In fact, the Winnipeg community of St. Boniface is the largest French-speaking community in Western Canada.

I just talked to my boss, a Winnipegger born and raised, about the episode. She thought it was great, save for one thing. When Michael is at the airport telling off David, he's standing in front of a window and the airport is backdropped by lovely rolling hills.

There are no hills in Winnipeg.

None.

 

So you're saying they didn't fly all the way to Winnipeg just to shoot one quick scene at the airport?

 

Watched about 20 minutes of it and didn't find it that funny so I turned it off. He starts out making fun of people with cancer, and then autism, then moves on to fat people. (Psssst! Ricky! You're fat!)

Total misanthrope who seems to get no joy out of life. Pass.

 

The beginning wasn't my favorite part either, but it gets better. He makes plenty of fun of himself too.

Surely you know that the stereotypically dumb US resident thinks all of Canada speaks French as a first language?

 

I thought they spoke Canadian. Or Canucki as it is more commonly referred to, eh.

 

Am I the only one who thought Pam was going to tell Jim she was heading back to New York when she was standing in the Gara-studio?

I LOVED Michael being taken for $500 for salad, too. Awesome.

And a big screw you to Ryan the temp for the microwave thing. Grr!
