Without looking up the specifics, because I'm lazy, I do know that they let various cast members and others write episodes, which is why it ends up feeling so uneven a lot of the time.

    Here's why I didn't like it:

The Hilary Swank stuff just wasn't very funny. The only good line was Angela's random Boris Becker comment.

It's already been established that Michael has a heart and Dwight is a cutthroat asshole who will do anything to move up in the world. Not sure I needed another episode portraying that.

Sorry, this show was spinning its wheels last night. I'll hope for better next week.

Pretty sure the writers haven't changed. Last night's episode was penned by BJ Novak (who plays Ryan), his ninth episode in series history. The next episode, airing after the Super Bowl (an hour's length), is written by Paul Lieberstein (Toby) and that is his 10th. Mindy Kaling (Kelly) has the following two, her 10th and 11th.

Anyway, I agree that the wheels were kind of spinning last night. A few good lines, but nothing really happened and it was a big letdown after last week, which I felt was the strongest episode since "Business Trip" in November.

"It's 'Is she hot?' not 'Would you do her?' Respect the game."

    Priceless, Kevin.

I still love thinking that Kevin acts like he is borderline retarded.

The iHop-Dennys argument made me crack up as did Jim saying "Eh, he'll be fine. I made it up there."

But the line of the night was "I don't want to bang a painting"

  7. Worst episode I can remember. No plot movement at all, unless you count Michael getting praise for the second episode in a row. Makes me wonder if they offer him the regional job.

No laugh out loud moments for me either, which is the first in a while.

The Swank stuff was a much less funny version of the office olympic episode.

Where was the Dwight/Andy/Angela followup? What was the aftermath?

    We have no idea.

That was odd for them to not acknowledge that at all. Not that they need to dwell on it, but some uncomfortable moment or something.

I'm sure that's coming soon. Some of the episodes air out of sequence as written (there were past-tense references to the "Booze Cruise" on the show before it actually aired), so it's possible they decided to save it for later for some reason.

I don't understand that point of view, really. A lot of other character traits have already been established, and repeated again and again. Do viewers expect a character trait to appear in one episode only? Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't understand this criticism.
