No. His would be a criminal investigation. Much better, huh, Mikey?

'Bama fans upset with Feinbaum "because all his does is talk about Cam Newton". He clearly loves to stir the pot and play on the blind allegiance of 'Bama fans to The Tide.

A timeless talk program technique to generate program interest-- lost on many of his listeners.

And the whole deal regarding the Leach "criminal investigation" was so pathetic.
It's like another Tech player said last year, I can't believe a 3rd string receiver is the cause of all this.
Every time I see Craig James in the booth (like last nite) I sort of cringe. It's the classic story of the over-eager sports parent.
I don't like Leach's radio schtick, but what they did to that guy out there in Lubbock was pathetic.

They pretty much took Tech back off the football map with decision to remove Leach. Tommy Tubberville is just to bland.

Stallings and Dye on Monday to reply to Leach. Should be fun.

    Oh, for heaven's sake.

Have a Little Debbie snack cake, and chill out.

In order not be ignorant of the situation in Birmingham, obviously, you need to go to Bogue's for the sausage and sweet rolls.

Coach Stallings and Coach Dye blow their top at Finebaum over Leach comments. Great radio !

In short Stallings and Dye were upset at Finebaum for not defending them when he spoke to Leach.

Several callers were pretty hard on Paul today.
Called him pretty much every name in the book.
Most of them were Alabama Tide fans, I take it.
Paul'd said he had sources to confirm that Gene Stallings was "run out" of Tuscaloosa instead of simply retiring.
Can any Tide fans shed light on that situation back in the mid-90s?
    Steak?

    Here's what I know ...

Bob Bockrath was hired as AD in 1996, Andrew Sorensen as president about that time. Neither one really cared much for Stallings, viewing him as a dinosaur who had more or less thumbed his nose at the NCAA during the whole Antonio Langham fiasco.

After the 1996 Mississippi State game, in which Alabama lost to a vastly inferior MSU team, Bockrath came to talk to Stallings in the coaches' dressing room, and made a crack along the lines of "wow, you really cost us some bowl money with that loss." Stallings had to be restrained from attacking Bockrath, which obviously isn't something you want to do to someone who is technically your boss.

A week later, Stallings resigned after the Auburn game. The story I'd always heard is that he got fed up and quit, but Bockrath and Sorensen certainly didn't invite him to stay. If Finebaum says he has a source who says Stallings was forced out, I wouldn't really be in any position to dispute that.

As for the confrontation between Dye, Stallings and Finebaum, it was mainly Stallings doing the attacking. Dye seemed more amused by the whole thing, though he did get in a few shots at Paul.

I'm of the impression that there was no way either the president or the AD had the juice to "force" Stallings out at that time. Asking Stallings to resign would've been like the Pope asking Henry the VIII to give up his crown. In this sense, I think Finebaum is almost right: the AD and Prez wanted to force Stallings out, but they didn't have the juice. Stallings left of his own volition at a time and manner of his own choosing for whatever reason, I think partially because he thought it was the best way to preserve his legacy. It's wholly inaccurate to say he was "fired because of NCAA penalties."
