It's football in West Texas. Shirley you're not surprised.

Ragu, if the kid had a broken wrist instead of a concussion I never would be posting. Football is a brutal sport that takes a toll physically and kids get run off. I think most of us here agree with that. It's just part of the deal.

That he was diagnosed with a brain injury and then placed in the shed is what I have issue with.

More will come out, I'm sure, from both sides. We'll see how it plays out.

    I can't believe all the over-analysis here.
AMENDED: Since this is SportsJournalists.com, I understand all the over-analysis here.
But this is really quite simple. The coach is an asshole. The player is an asshole.
The confluence of these two assholes spun out of control. The result will be that a lot of money will change hands and a significant bunch of it will go to the lawyers, who are assholes, too.

    Nothing surprises me anymore.

    And don't call me Shirley.
15½ hours and nobody's picked that up? Y'all are slipping.

Leach should have simply used the Steve Spurrier method: if the kid's a walk-on, bounce him. If he's on scholarship, don't renew it for the next year. Bench him. Ignore him. Pretend he doesn't exist. If half of what I've heard about the James kid is true, he's eating this attention up. Exactly what he wanted. The worst punishment would have been to ignore the little turd first, then get rid of him.

Leach and Bobby Knight are the same guy (and funny how they wound up in Lubbock): they're smart, with no common sense.

Maybe he saw potential in the kid and was trying to motivate him. Outside of Tony Dungy I can't think of any big time successful football coach that is not perceived as a prick by someone.

The story to be written is whether Leach lost the team prior to the whole James blow up. The signs are there.

"How many assholes we got at Texas Tech anyways?"

    "YO!"

"I knew it, I'm surrounded by assholes."

Players still continuing to speak up in favor of James and against Leach. Sounds like Leach was on the verge of losing his team.
