You could mic a coach at any level of football for a season and they would say at least 10 things that most would cringe at.

James has gotten some support but it does not seem like a groundswell. Certainly at game he did not get a lot of support from the TT fan base which you have to presume has some connection to the players.

Clearly the story has not fully played out yet.

 

Interesting the players' comments on "something changed this season" and "bigger than the program." Lends credence that the seeds of this were sown in the last contract negotiations, and that Leach figured he was the biggest-swinging dick in Lubbock. Well, he got the dick part right, apparently.

 

That or Leach felt with a little more pushing could build on last seasons success.

Brandon Carter has been most outspoken and he would have an ax to grind since Leach suspended him for a game.

There are not many D 1 Football coaches who don't think they are the biggest swinging dick on campus.

 

There's a difference between thinking it and making a point of rubbing people's noses in it.

 

That last line may be correct, but the discussion of fan opinion is ridiculous. Let's see, the highly-successful coach or the kid who barely plays. Who do you think is going to get more support from fans? Give me a break.

 

The history of big-time college football (and basketball) tells us that schools do not fire coaches unless there's a list of problems with the guy longer than the LA phone directory. I'm pretty sure James' complaint was the issue the administration was praying for, and that litigation will not be in Leach's interest.

 

Maybe the Mormon church is behind this since Leach has fallen from the flock.
