The place seems more civil today, no?

Well, Redd, that's the problem. There is no clear punishment for outing.

It happened more than once on the Super Bowl thread and only one guy's gone.

If I ran the place, anyone who outed anyone would be gone. End of story.

Shottie: This comes down to reveling in someone's demise, which, again, doesn't make you guys any better than the poster with whom you had issues. Kicking someone when he's out isn't exactly sporting. Nor is selective banning.

This thread didn't start with me saying woe is dyepack. It started with Pringle going (paraphrasing here) "Hey this place is a lot nicer today, must be because dyepack's not here." Yeah. This place going to stay nice and happy because dyepack's gone. He was the only problem we ever had.

That's my final words on the topic. I'm sure this will be locked and nuked soon enough anyway. Kumbaya!

No, we agree. The record's intact. ;)

It's just been verrrry selectively applied in the past, that's all. DP could be a douchebag -- he and I never had problems -- but he certainly wasn't outing anyone. Others have -- and have not been punished for it. So I'm with you on that one, too.

I agree completely. So should openly speculating about where a specific poster works, as someone tried to do to me yesterday, incorrectly.

It's likely that I don't know the full story, but it appears to me that DyePack was basically banned for being unpopular. If you disagreed with him in a civil manner, he would disagree back in a civil manner. At least he did with me.

    Exactly right.

The moderation on this board is usually perfect. But sometimes, it's heavy-handed...And always against the folks who get labeled "trolls" just because they disagree with certain others.

And shotty, I often agree with you. But man if "one-line snipes at anyone and everyone on this site" were a ban-able offense, membership would drop in a hurry.

Sure they have. Look back at the first few posts.

You're right about not knowing the full story. He more than earned his ban. It wasn't for being unpopular.

Should others be gone? Yeah. Am I one of them? Probably. But make no mistake, he got what was coming to him.
