How come actors like Jennifer Connelly make it while others like Iona Skye don't?

Luck. Skill. Talent. Timing. Chance. Connections. Material. Endurance. Work ethic.

    Who knows.

Why is Mike Lupica driving a Bentley?

''Say Anything'' depends above all on the human qualities of its actors. Cusack and Skye must have been cast for their clear-eyed frankness, for their ability to embody the burning intensity of young idealism. A movie like this is possible because its maker believes in the young characters, and in doing the right thing, and in staying true to oneself. The sad teenage comedies of recent years are apparently made by filmmakers who have little respect for themselves or their characters, and sneer because they dare not dream.

Could be Skye's marriage to Adam Horovitz derailed her.

    Who knows.

Connelly worked with DeNiro in "Once Upon a Time in America" when she was 14.

She co-starred with David Bowie in "Labyrinth" when she was 16 - and got bad reviews for her performance.

She won an Oscar when she was 32.

    Again, who knows?

Right, there is no suitable answer. Just one of those curiosities.

Same with Mia Sara. Super good in Ferris Bueller's Day Off and then ... nothing.

    Yeah.

There are at least as many one-hit wonders in the movies and TV as there are in music.

Connelly probably could have won it for her role in Blood Diamond.
