    It would be awful strange to be calling Charles a different name after all these years

    Another thing: Admittedly, this is the first passing of the English crown in my lifetime, but I was shocked Charles got the "King" title seemingly the very minute Elizabeth passed. I guess I always thought there needed to be a ceremony or some sort of oath to make it official.

    It is automatic, since the country cannot be without a sovereign. But he won't have a formal coronation until some time after the 10-day funeral period for his mother.
