"Ray and I, we're close," Harbaugh said. "We have been for a long time, so it's an easy conversation to have. I love Janay. She's a great person. The two people, obviously they've got a couple of issues they have got to work through. They are both committed to doing that. That was the main takeaway for me from the conversation. They understand all the issues. They're getting a lot of counseling and those kinds of things. That's very positive. That was the main takeaway."

Didnt multiple reporters state that the NFL had seen the video? Did the sources lie? Did the league lie? Did the reporters make it up to curry favor with the league?

I would not place any blame on Mrs. Rice; historically, the victims the vast majority of the time support the abuser; they're conditioned to believe that they caused the abuse.

The NFL left itself wiggle room initially when they said they had requested all materials from law enforcement; they never said they did not get it from any other source (the casino).

The details were not stated before about what knocked Mrs. Rice out; perhaps he shoved her, no one said; we could have thought punch but there was no confirmation; the NFL and everyone involved asked the public to think the least and give him the benefit of the doubt; well there is no doubt now and they look awful.

What counseling does Janey need? Not to lean in with her chin but to jab and move.

Harbaugh's job and every coach's is to win and if John Hinkley, David Berkowitz and Mohammed Aideed could hep him win they'd be on the team

No. This is National Security. This is the Pentagon Papers and the 9/11 Commission. Sports Journalism needs confidential sources because the weight of their information is so necessary to a free press that its inconceivable reporters could provide the public with the truth without it.

What a fucking embarrassing day for the Toy Department, no? I'm trying to think of a time when the sporting press looked this used and abused. It seems there have been a few similar incidents, often at the college level.

True, but I'm not sure it's a fair fight when your organization (TMZ) can buy stuff and others, at least in theory, can't do it ethically.

Exactly. TMZ probably paid six figures for the video.

The bigger question is that if the sports press is this fucked up on this story, what else do they sugar coat? What other pockets contain the National Sports Press? How many people did Jameis Winston rape and why don't we know? Oh yeah, reporters have been 'assured' that he's a good kid and the charges are ridiculous.
