    True.

It's sad too. DD has been stuck in the same job, covering the same topics, because everyone recognizes that his superior access did not result in any superior knowledge or analysis.

Years of covering the same team and sport for so long actually makes you less informed on both topics.

Superior knowledge of the entire team? I'm sure he has exactly that. A little too much faith in Rice guiding his judgement? Yeah, I think that is the case as well, at least based on the assumption he made above.

Sorry, but anybody with that type of knowledge of the NFL who watched Ray Rice that much in 2013 should know better than to assume he could do what Forsett is doing this season.

It's absolutely an assumption. No possible way it could be an opinion based on experience, observation and reporting.

Is the Raven's line performing better this year than they did last year?

Is Rice healthier than he was last year?

This is where a normal person, having been shown the error in logic that has led to everything else he thought, would do one of two things:

    A) just drop it

    or, preferred

    B) make a self-deprecating remark and have a laugh at his own expense.

The fact that oop will do neither -- that he is doubling down on Double Down -- is predictable yet still hilarious. It's a real-live Farrelly Brothers movie.

I say this less with malice and more out of sad concern, OOP, but you need therapy worse than anyone who has ever posted here. I've done some therapy myself. It's not something to be afraid of. You should try it. Your pathological need to be right and be the smartest person in every conversation here is really sort of scary. Again, I don't know what this message board means to you, but it's clearly being used to work through issues of self worth on a daily basis, and it's exhausting for the rest of us.

I've have written and thought more about Ray Rice's declining skills than you can possible fathom. The idea that I'm somehow unaware of this expert analysis that you posses (You know, running backs later in their career decline in numbers and skill!) is just odd. He is not the player he was at 25. He still would be having the season Forsett is having because that's what running backs in a Kubiak system do. In fact, I can sit here and say he might even have better numbers than Forsett because he would be catching passes too, something Forsett doesn't really do. Forsett is not some unearthed Pro Bowl talent. He's a guy doing well because he's a good runner and his offensive coordinator is probably the best architect of the running game of this era.

As for Rice, I watched his ass play in the preseason. I know the plans the Ravens had for him. I know why he was awful last year. This are not things I've "hinted" at, these are things I had to learn in the course of reporting stories. I've made it quite clear who I am IRL for about the past year, which is why plenty of people are laughing at you. In my opinion, I think he'd be putting up the same numbers as Forsett. He wouldn't be a benchwarmer, as Gee suggested, but I don't blame Gee for thinking that because Gee is the reverse oracle around here, and whatever he predicts, the opposite occurs. You, on the other hand, just puff up like a blowfish every time someone has an opinion that doesn't jive with your own. And while I'm sure you acquired a tremendous amount of knowledge watching Steelers games and the Red Zone channel while working on the community calendar or whatever is your day job, that doesn't mean you are the expert of all things.

Once again, it is my *opinion* that Ray Rice would be putting up the same numbers that Forsett is putting up this year had he never been suspended. Few people have watched as much boring offensive football as I have in the last seven, eight years writing and following the Ravens, and the idea that Rice's 3.1 YPC in 2013 was all his fault and was a sign he was done as an NFL player is not a reflection of what I know -- you know, having like, talked to people involved -- or what the FACTS!!!!!1!1!1 support.

Here is a story, not written by me, but one that supports what a mess the Ravens offensive line was in 2013.

    http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2013-11-07/sports/bs-sp-ravens-zone-blocking-1108-20131107_1_danger-zone-bernard-pierce-ray-rice

If the Colts signed Ray Rice, I suspect he'd play fairly well for them. Again, that's my *opinion.* Could be wrong! But it's still one I hold based on, like, reporting and stuff. Not like reading Twitter or occasionally seeing plays of him on Red Zone channel or when he played against the Steelers. The idea that I'm somehow biased in his favor is funny too. I did compare him — in print, in a national magazine that has, like, millions of readers — to a murderer earlier this year. So maybe you're right and I do really love the guy.

Don't PM me. Go make an appointment with a therapist. For real.

This Double Down guy sounds like he's full of shit.

He's probably some 13-year-old kid who is posting from his mom's basement. I just can't figure out how he's been a board member for so long if he's only 13.
