Janay should have used The Players Tribune to tell her story . Maybe she was not eligible to use
since she was not a pro athlete.

  2. Honestly,
    I don't think he's poison.
If you believe their position - this was a one-time thing by both of them - and they have sworn off alcohol and picked up church.
He's a redemption story waiting to happen.

Hell, I'd love like to see him in a Steelers uniform backing up Bell.

I don't think he's washed up and I doubt he's going to be blackballed (for lack of a better term) by the NFL teams, most of which have kept players who done much, much worse.

That is my question. I don't see any reason to believe it was a one-time incident.

I wouldn't be shocked to see the Steelers go that route if their current options flop, which is a very real possibility. Rice is still capable of being useful as a part-time player and Pittsburgh is certainly willing to put up with players who have done bad things off the field. Roethlisberger and Harrison are proof of that.

one time thing? Does someone go from no domestic violence to knocking out your girlfriend with one solid punch to the face in a public place? Then dragging her out of the elevator so non chalantly as to seem a usual Occurence.

Yeah, I'm not buying that. This was too violent to be an isolated incident.

  6. Really?
I believe them, both of them, when they say it was a one-time thing.
Has there been any evidence to support the contrary? I'm sure some enterprising reporters have been digging into Rice's past looking under rocks for other incidents.
Janay Rice said she was as much responsible as her husband for the incident, spitting and slapping him.

Not sure anyone has revealed them as one of those couples with a volatile relationship.

  7. Some folks can't hold their liquor. It can generate strange, uncharacteristic behavior.

Kicking the shit out of a small weak woman by a muscle bound pro football player who can't hold his liquor isnt that strange or uncharacteristic.
    Difference of opinion.

It's not like he's a teacher or a cop or a waitress. Being a spouse beater shouldn't disqualify Rice from working at his profession.

Have we seen evidence that he is capable of violence against her? Yes, we have. Do we have evidence that she is capable of inciting such violence? Yes, there is her admission. It is certainly possible that they are telling the truth despite both having strong motives to lie, but the video makes me at least question her word on this one.

Bottom line? I don't know if she is telling the truth, but given how quickly she married the guy after such an ugly, violent incident between them, I think her judgement has to be called into question.

Do you really think she is as responsible for his actions as he is? Honestly?

That said, I agree with your other point. I could see the Steelers going that route, but only because they have proven they are willing to employ bad guys if they are good enough on the field, just as I suspect every team in the NFL would do.

Greg Hardy would likely be playing if not for Ray Rice getting convicted in the court of social media. Now Rice can play and Hardy is still suspended. Kind of an ironic twist.

  11. That's what I wrote and I want that to be clear.
She's not responsible for his actions. She's responsible for her actions. For her part in the incident. She slapped him and spit on him. It's no excuse for Rice.

I doubt the Steelers even make a play for Rice.
If I'm Marvin Lewis - with the 'Burgh on the schedule twice in the next month and a division title up for grabs - I'm making that call to Rice's agent. Yesterday!

Just amazing to me that it seems like in the 90+ year history of the league, they've never had a consistent personal conduct policy before? Really? And now in recent history, and particularly this year, it's mainly media driven and made up by the commish as they go along. Doesn't make sense.
