9 a.m. or so the morning he was to be back in uniform would have been terrific.

someone should ask Goodell if he likes to smack the occasional female. Maybe he has something to hide. After the NFL's disingenuous treatment of this case, anything goes.

Roger, when did you stop beating your wife, if ever?

True, but the Monday before they're playing the Thursday night game is still pretty damn good.

Apparently, Rice is losing support from his teammates, who actually believed him when he said it was self defense. Good call, dummies.

  6. After Simms' chivalrous stance on the Redskins name, I can't wait to see his bold moves with regards to the Ravens, the NFL and Rice come Thursday.
Bet Nantz is grinning from ear to ear.

We get access to the arrest reports. If a player gets arrested, a lot of times it is the policy of the paper to pass off the story to newsside and they handle it, which is the dumbest thing ever. It's a cop out, but they did it at every newspaper I ever worked for. Player gets arrested for beating up their wife/girlfriend winds up being buried in the metro section with the other arrests. It was rarely even on the section front.

There are several high-profile NFL players who have been arrested for domestic violence and I'm guessing your average fan would have trouble listing a single one beyond Rice or McDonald.

There's no question this stuff has been swept under the rug in the past. Whether it continues remains to be seen.

    OK, honest question.

If you're Goodell, what do you do?

They supported him until the moment they saw Justin Forsett run.

Stick with the lie and stick with the two-game suspension. It's the only thing he can do, otherwise he looks like he will let Radio Free NFL decide player punishments.

And if you're the NFL Executive Committee, you start looking for new candidates. The guy fucks up everything.

If he amends the suspension and gives Rice six games, do you think there is a chance in hell that Rice, the Ravens or the NFLPA fight the suspension?
