He'll never touch the ball in Dallas, especially when it's second-and-1 on the 2-yard line.

I would agree with that. It would be different if this was a year ago. No question this is worse than Vick. I'm sure there are some in the league who are worse, but there's no video (so far) of them knocking their fiancee to the ground.

NFL has indefinitely suspended Ray Rice in light of new video.

Peter King, admittedly I've read him for a long time now, comes up with the lamest or laziest piece of journalism, I concluded that the NFL saw the tape after a source said "the NFL had to have seen it." Says also he did not try to confirm with NFL.

I wonder if Newsome thought about calling Mark Davis to offer him Rice for a couple draft picks.

They're sticking with their bullshit, I see.

People would have to be even fucking dumber to believe the NFL hadn't seen this video than they would to believe Rice didn't knock her out.

Meh. They cut him. Contracts aren't guaranteed. Players get cut all the time. Plus, the standard players contract has a conduct clause. Says they can cut a player for any reason -- if they deem his performance unsatisfactory. But also says, "if Player has engaged in personal conduct reasonably judged by Club to adversely affect or reflect on the Club, then Club may terminate this contract."

I just don't understand how you can go from a two-game suspension to all of a sudden cutting him loose. As has been stated on this thread on multiple pages, what do you think happened in that elevator? That is what is unfathomable to me. Maybe they were waiting for the smoking gun -- or, hoping that the smoking gun wasn't released for the world to see -- but come on.

I am assuming I am not the only one who is caring less and less about the league.

Very fair column by Wetzel, urging the league to use the moment to elevate more women into power positions, given what appears to be an institutional breakdown.

With the investigative tools the NFL has at its disposal, it simply isn't credible that they hadn't seen that video until now.

Whats the worst thing is that yesterday gave the public some very exciting games that were unexpected (Jax/Philly; Buff/Chi; Clev/Pitt; Tenn/KC)
