The Ray Rice Elevator Video

I think you're completely wrong. Rice will never play in the NFL again. Any team would be crazy to take on that baggage. Imagine the NOW or abused spouses groups picketing practice and games by the thousands every single day. He's not good enough anymore to get past that.

This is really the bottom line. Ray Rice may or may not be a deplorable human being. What is certain is that he has too many miles on his legs and is a shadow of his former self.

If he was capable of churning out more than about 3.3 ypc, somebody would pick him up.

As it is, he's done. Good riddance.

Yes. Not sure why anyone is surprised by the outrage at the video. Most of those outraged were outraged before and felt he should have been suspended much longer. But while most of us thought we knew what really happened, without this video there could be reasonable doubt, and there were numerous reports that Rice was "defending" himself or he didn't really knock her out, she just hit her head, or any number of explanations. Without the video there was at least the thought that it wasn't so cut and dried. I have watched the video twice, and it pissed me off even more the second time. Hard to believe anyone can be that violent and callous with someone they supposedly love. Sickening.

Yes. If this was the Rice of a few years ago, he would be back in a couple of years after the shitstorm died down. But not now. And I do find it interesting that the team and his teammates turned on hm the day after Justin Forsett's game yesterday.

Has Mortensen explained how his source was able to so accurately describe what happened on the video? Unless his source was from law enforcement, and not the League, something's not right.

Well, Ray Rice described it accurately to the team, so maybe he talked to Ray.

Marcellus Wiley was pretty much a Rice apologist until today. Maybe Columbia wants it's education back, Wiley is an ignorant fool.

I'm pretty sure Mort is on a long list of people who are going to try to explain things in a confusing and obfuscating manner, hoping it will all go away. That list also includes (at least) Peter King, Adam Schefter, John Harbaugh, the Ravens' owner and PR director, Roger Goodell and his lackey Greg Aiello.

I name-checked you earlier in the thread, saying this is right up your alley -- reporters with all that access spent the summer telling the world "trust me, there is way more to this than just a guy knocking out his woman."

Asked why the team wasn't able to view the video sooner, Harbaugh said, "I don't know why that would be a hard thing to understand. It wasn't available. It wasn't there for us. It wasn't something that we ever saw or had access to."

Has anyone said if the video conflicted with Rice's version of events?

Ravens officials had not seen this Rice video prior to today but he had described actions in detail. Didn't "sugarcoat" it source said...

So while the actual footage today was new to the Ravens visually, the description Rice gave them was in line with what the video displayed

That makes no sense whatsoever. He wasn't punished by the Ravens because Rice is such a great guy. Real character guy. The two of them went through counseling.

The Ravens will just be talking the next few days. None of it will make any sense.
