I don't know where the Ravens could possibly have gotten the idea that the media would be supportive and compliant as they paraded Janay Rice around as an equal offender.

The groundswell is what got Ray Rice fired by the Ravens, not the video they saw for the "first" time. Terrell Suggs is a celebrated Raven even after pouring bleach on his girlfriend and child.

Brett Myers punched his wife on the crowded street of a major American city in front of thousands of people. He didn't even miss his next start, two days later.

Not to sound like a broken record, but it's all about the video.

Was Rice the worst person in the NFL? Probably not. Was what he did worse than what so many others have done? Probably not.

But, if you ask Hardy or McDonald or any of the other women-beating douches in the league what happened, they can say, "You weren't there, you don't know what happened." or "There are two sides to every story." or "You know how women can be." or "She was drunk." or anything else that may put a tiny piece of doubt in the minds of a coach/GM/owner/commissioner about what happened.

The video showed him knocking her out, and he showed no remorse that he did it. You can't come back from that.

There was the Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher who put a gun in his wife's mouth. I think this was 1999 or 2000 or so. I don't remember if he was suspended, but if he got one, it was a very short one.

I'll say it again: She is a very typical domestic violence victim. Especially one who is not yet ready to break out of the cycle of violence.

Bobby Chouinard. And he was released immediately (though he did play for the Rockies for a couple of years after that).

Interesting to see Michael Strahan talking about this story on GMA. While his wife's accusations may have been fueled by a divorce, the details of his alleged abuse against her aren't pretty.

London franchise that nobody wants but him and Bob Kraft.
    Eighteen-game schedule.
Mark Cuban was right- pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. That is the direction of the league.
Every year he is commissioner I like the game a little less.

Didn't Myers get into an altercation with a beat writer also?

Given the stories about his ex, I don't think many people believed her. That doesn't mean it didn't happen though.
