How did I "take it" here?

Folks are pointing out that the Ray Rice incident didn't happen in a vacuum. The NFL has coddled abusers in the past, and Slate, and whomever else Dick is railing against didn't speak up in previous incidents.

    Dick is morally outraged.

    OK. Cool.

But, the moment we decide to claim the moral high ground is also the moment we need to look in the mirror. Do we have our own history of doing exactly what we are accusing others of?

As Catholics, did we protect pedophile priests? As music fans, did we pretend Michael Jackson was just some eccentric guy, who, robbed of his own childhood, just wanted to shower young boys with love? Are we more interested in the next installment of X-Men than we are in the victims of Bryan Singer?

And, yes, if you supported Bill Clinton, and castigated his accusers as nuts and sluts, and swallowed the narrative that was written by the Bimbo Eruption Team, then you need to consider your own culpability in the lack of outrage that has surrounded these cases for the last twenty years.

If you want to tell me we've finally reached the proper place in society, and we are going to take this stuff seriously in the future, then that's great. We can be satisfied that we've finally learned from our past mistakes.

Sadly, the next time the popular Monsignor is accused by a kid "from a broken home" with a "troubled past", he's likely to get more support than the kid.

And, the next time a big time coach is accused, the university faithful will rally around him too.

And, we'll wonder all over again about the lack of outrage.

Hey DD what did you mean by " of Michele Obama stenography"?

Did Kantor once work for Obama as a secretary?

Again, do you feel you are exempt from the No Politics rule? If so, why?

If not, can you please continue with this thread without discussing Bill Clinton? Please? Your contributions have value, but you are being a jerk. Don't get this thread locked, please.

Maybe instead of using politicians as examples we should start using
Marve Albert as the poster child of privileged protection. He once left
bite marks on a ladies ass.

I would never defend someone who would ruin the solemnity of a coffee break.

A coffee break should be enjoyable; a time to relax, and forget about the stresses of everyday life. A good cup of coffee and a pleasant conversation can transport you to another time and place.

They were reporting on the women's accusations, including their alleged lies, then dealt with the shriekers complaining that the libruhl media was being too hard on them because some aspects of their stories weren't passing the smell test.

Sorry, but I don't see the mention of a former President's name as inherently political. The mention of him wasn't to do with him, or any of his political policies. It had to do with his supporters, and how we rally to people in power in these situations -- especially when he's "our" guy.
