    "To my knowledge" ...

Yeah but he has gone farther than that. The letter he sent to all the teams said flat-out that nobody saw the video.

A law enforcement official says he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee to an NFL executive three months ago, while league officers have insisted they didn't see the violent images until this week.

The person played The Associated Press a 12-second voicemail from an NFL office number on April 9 confirming the video arrived. A female voice expresses thanks and says: "You're right. It's terrible."

The NFL replied swiftly Thursday, saying in a statement: "We have no knowledge of this. We are not aware of anyone who possessed or saw the video before it was made public on Monday. We will look into it."

The one thing I will give them is that Goodell is enough of an incompetent good-hair do-nothing to have that little control of his office.

    But still. No.

Stonewalling is unlikely to work, but it's all Goodell has now.

He's either a liar or he's so incompetent that he didn't know his executives have watched the video before he handed down the suspension, even though Peter King and Chris Mortenson did.

Either way, he's done. Maybe by sunrise tomorrow.

he boxed himself into a corner by lying. He's got a shorter shelf life than Stepin Fetchit

My prediction: People on this thread are introduced to the name Jeff Miller, who becomes the scapegoat.

Terrible look for the league with this report, but it was also reported that Matt Walsh had the Patriots/Rams spy tape and then it turned out Walsh was full of prunes, more or less. Unlikely, but always a chance this source turns out that way too.

It does make me wish the reporters stood by their story on Monday when the league said it never saw the tape. They were right, backed off, and may now be proven right all along.

Is the person fired as a scapegoat or does this result in mass firings and resignations?

Tried to edit above post and quoted instead. Whoops.

Or the "female voice" who confirmed receipt of the tape.

Maybe she accidentally erased it, a la the White House secretary with the Nixon tapes.
