A little different from the Matt Walsh story. The AP reporter was right there while that voice mail got played. A cop or public prosecutor of some kind played it for the reporter. Hard for that to translate into "oops, sorry."
Also, it's going to be hard to find a scapegoat who'll accept that fate without squawking. It's not like government. There's no cushy fraud think tank job or Wall Street gig they can buy silence with.
Mort is saying somebody else's confidential source should out themselves? Pathetic.

Good bye Goodell and take some faux journalists with you

I'm still not entirely sure the Matt Walsh story was incorrect.

I think this is a window into how the league operates and Tomase might have had that nailed all along.

No journalist is going to be fired over this, even though that will disappoint a lot of you.

If Goodell is any kind of leader, he falls on the sword right now.

I think they were right all along, and then second-guessed themselves when the denials began.

I think a lot of us have been there.

That's how I see it, too, Dick. Boy, CBS's first Thursday nighter is going to be a ratings bonanza and a network nightmare all at once.

    I don't think they second-guessed themselves.

I said it on the first response to the thread on the journalism board, I think King (and here I'll add the others) are lying intentionally to try to save Goodell's job.

Just a little sidebar - from the article:

The law enforcement official, speaking to the AP on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation...

    What ongoing investigation?
