AP has a story .. .complete with law enforcement official producing a voice mail confirmation from a (female) league official. She thanks them for the copy.
"You're right. It's terrible," she states on the recording.

Goodell is finished.

 

I did amend my earlier "Goodell will not resign over this" statement to include "Unless it's proven that he saw the tape before Monday," right? Sure hope so.

 

That the law enforcement official saved the voice mail -- from a league phone number -- confirming the tape was both received, and seen, is so brilliant.

I just can't believe they lied about this. I really believed they either didn't see it, or were playing some kind of word game.

And, it's not like this was some minor issue, being handled several levels below Goodsell. This was his call. If that tape arrived at the NFL offices, he had to know about it.

Greg Aiello and Adolpho Birch deserve to be on the chopping block as well.

I can only imagine the mad fucking scramble being undertaken by the TMZ's and Deadspins of the world, to find the woman who said "You're right. It's terrible."

She'll be found, and quoted, by 11 p.m.

 

And then Goodsell and Aiello will know who received it.

At this point, they might as well wait for TMZ or the AP to get to the bottom of it.

 

Maybe Condi Rice gets her dream job after all.
