And, given CBS's history of throwing softball questions at the NCAA at tournament time, him calling this one is a tradition unlike any other ...

He got off the hook, but an outdoors Super Bowl in New Jersey could/should have been a colossal Goodell clusterfuck.

Robinson is simply showing what happens when one's ignorance is mixed with one's frustration; he's ignorant about the cycle of abuse and thinks that HE (or any reasonable person) would simply leave; he's also frustrated about how someone who is not taking the steps he or those in his circle would take is getting a pass.

Definitely, and I've been guilty of that in the past, too.

I think it's very telling, though, that Robinson says something stupid about DV and gets a 2-game sitdown, so he won't be working games that Ray McDonald, who has been arrested for DV on his pregnant GF/wife, will be playing in.

That tells all you need to know about whether this rallying cry against DV is real or just lip service.

If you're familiar with radio host Steve Czaban, he's got a running bit where he talks about Goodell, the NFL, and all of the gangster, messing with what's not broken, idiotic, arrogant stuff they try to pull and just finishes it by saying "This league ..." (as in "You believe this freakin' league?)
Every one of those points listed above qualifies as a "This league ..."

Leigh Steinberg's Facebook post -- and Lord do I hope this happens:

    Leigh Steinberg
LAST IRONY ON RICE--Inevitably he will be reinstated after a second week out. The NFL already adjuticated and penalized him two games. Under the CBA a player can only be punished ONCE for ONE incident. There was nothing that occurred between that penalty and today that justified another penalty except ugly press and reaction. The NFL had its chance to get this right earlier, they didn't,and have violated their constitution. I know this is the last thing anyone wants to hear, but that's how badly they have bungled this.

Goodell is done. After the CBS interview, he's backed himself into a corner where his only two options are liar or incompetent ... needless to say, not a good look for a commish.

But I'm still more intrigued to see how the NFL deals with its "violence against women problem," as noted by the head of NOW.

This is a major PR shitstorm that goes way beyond Ray Rice's vicious left hook -- and it's only going to get worse.

The NFL needs to take a comprehensive look into its players' long history of violence toward women, and act decisively before sponsors take their money elsewhere.

Can that happen in the middle of a season, with the commish and other officials scrambling to save their own asses? Doubtful.

Screamin' A says the head of NOW is "out if her mind" for demanding the firing of Goodell. What will it take to get him off the air for good?

Hiring the former head of a devious American institution to sort out the mess is yet another misstep.
Jesus, what a clusterfuck. This will be discussed in PR seminars for years.

And here I was, thinking NASCAR was run by the biggest idiot in professional sports. I guess I was wrong.

I'm way behind on this thread, but I think this may just be my first signature on this message board.

I don't know what Mueller needs to investigate. Better to draft a new domestic violence policy governing all league personnel, with assistance from the national coalition against domestic violence.

You know who hires former FBI chiefs? Penn State, FIFA and Prince Bandar bin Sultan.
